The Faculty of Science

Faculty of Science Research Departments

Sustainability, climate change, biodiversity, digital and connected society, data science, medicines and vaccines, medical technology, food and water, living environment and health: the major challenges of our time require fundamental solutions from Science. A values-driven, experimental, computational and interdisciplinary approach is essential for this. This approach is in the DNA of the Faculty of Science of VU Amsterdam. And our scientists are working with heart and soul on solutions for these major challenges. In their own research, through valorisation, and by educating new generations of socially engaged global citizens. So that, with knowledge and an entrepreneurial attitude, they can make a valuable contribution to a sustainable, healthy future.
