About Albertjan Tollenaar

Albertjan Tollenaar is professor of Empirical Legal studies and local governance at the Department of Administrative Law & Public Administration of the Faculty of Law, University of Groningen. His research focuses on the role of the rule of law in the local context. This concerns for example the role of human rights and access to justice with regard to the availability of fresh water (From Knowledge to policies). In his research he applies empirical research methods to assess the effectiveness of the law.

In his capacity as director of the Graduate School of Law he is responsible for the research master and the PhD programme of the faculty of law. At the recruitment event he will also represent the graduate schools of the other faculties of Social Sciences & Humanities.
